The Queens community has suffered a terrible tragedy. Bais Yosef D’Ulem, affectionately known as “Rabbi Friedman’s Shul,” one of the most integral centers of frum life in Kew Gardens Hills and the broader Queens community, has been devastated by a fire that has destroyed this makom of Tefillah and Torah. Anyone who has ever lived anywhere in Queens, or has even passed by on the way to the airport, knows the vital role that Rabbi Friedman’s Shul plays in the community’s life. The Shul has been a pillar of the community for over 40 years with its open door policy and nonstop Shachris minyanim. From the earliest hours and throughout the morning, concurrent minyanim hum with the sounds of Torah and Tefillah.
But the Shul is not just a neighborhood mossad, it is a crossroads for Jews from everywhere, a first stop for Jews arriving from Eretz Yisroel and elsewhere. The incredible Rav and Rebbetzin dedicate their entire lives to the kehilla and Klal Yisroel. Everyone is welcome at any time. The Shul building is also the home of Rav and the Rebbetzin. It is a home that is always filled with their children, grandchildren and anyone who knocks on their door. Sadly, their home has also been ruined in this terrible fire.
Please join us in restoring this extraordinary House of Hashem and making sure that they can continue their critical work.
